Eastsiders
This collection of paintings has been inspired by the people who live & work in East Vancouver.
East Vancouver has a strong geographic and community identity. This has evolved over the years for a number of reasons. Originally a blue-collar part of the city, it has retained an unpretentious grittiness resulting from the combination of public housing, transients, the working poor, and artists of all kinds forced out of other, more expensive parts of the city.
Whatever the underlying reason, there is just a more interesting mixture of people around in East Vancouver, and always someone interesting just around the corner.
This collection is intended to depict the dignity, resilience and humour of ordinary people in our part of the world.
